I once read that if you are looking to invite love in to your life you need to make room for it. It sounds like a very ‘Universe’ kind of thing, but listen, at 32 years old, staring down the barrel of 33, I’ll do just about anything. While I continue to swipe left and right on the many diverse dating Apps that are on the market, I did want to let the Universe know that I see the game it wants me to play and I’m ready to go.
A thing about me, I really like using non-typical furniture for a typical reason. Case and point, I like to use book shelves for a bedside table because I like to use it to show off cute items I bought at Home Goods or my extensive collection of chick-lit books. A nightstand without drawers does mean no junk drawers; so I try to buy baskets to keep next to my bed for all the incidentals such as my Kindle, remotes, Chapsticks and more.
I realized, however, that I only had one nightstand/bookshelf. Whoa! Where would my future ‘Bae’ put his glass of water, or set his glasses as we tuck ourselves in to bed? I immediately got to work at finding the same bookshelf I had on my side for the other side of my bed that I used for my water and my glasses. Thankfully, I only furniture shop at Target and they still had the same bookshelf in stock. (Oh, and it was on crazy sale I just had to go pick it up and I got Ebates. Are you using Ebates? No? Ok, we need to talk…oh, that’s for another post!) Back to the bookshelf, I was able to buy one in white to match the rest of my furniture; you’ll notice I really like the cleanliness that white gives the room along with small pops of color. But now that I see there is a new ‘rustic’ one I’m wishing I had another bedroom to decorate.
Once I picked up my second nightstand I got to work and put it together really quickly; like in less-than-half-an-hour quickly. I will attribute my handiness to the episodes of This Old House my Dad had me watch as a kid and the Property Brother’s episodes I choose to watch now. Hot twins and construction? Yup, I’m in. With my drill and hammer, and the La La Land soundtrack, I knocked out the book shelf and got to work on decorating. Did the Universe say how I should decorate the second nightstand? It didn’t and so it become my second nightstand/jewelry stand. Don’t worry, I saved enough room for ‘Future Boyfriend’ and his glasses! Do you see this Universe? I’m getting there, one piece of furniture at a time.
What are other things you can do to invite love into your life? I hear a rumor about clearing out a drawer, but that sounds silly, I have a lot of clothes! Leave your thoughts in the comments and tell me if you have done anything like this before, too!

You are amazing Ms. Jarvis! I love this idea and this man is right around the corner. As they say, it’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it! Coming from a girl who didn’t find The One until she was almost 30 … Keep your eye on the prize and all the pieces will fall into place. 🙂 love your positive attitude on love! Xoxo
