She’s a Boss: Lauryn Evarts Bosstick + The Skinny Confidential

Lauryn Evarts Bosstick is your internet best friend. Actually, no…she might just be your actual best friend. She thinks you’re crushing it at work, she has the best advice when it comes to beauty (she stalked her favorite guru until they told her their secrets), oh…and if she’s being totally honest she’s not sure you’re eating enough fiber and she’d really like you to stay out of the sun more. No one on the internet may care more about you, your career, your health and your future than Lauryn Evarts Bosstick…well, yeah and your mom.

Writer and creator of the all-encompassing brand, The Skinny Confidential, Lauryn was an early adopter to the world of blogging and engagement. Her blog started while she was attending San Diego State University where she was feeling less than inspired with the dining options, and quickly realized she was not alone. With a niche of about 20k ladies on campus, Lauryn had her first entrepreneurial spark: easy and quick recipes, fitness and beauty tips and tricks and thus The Skinny Confidential was born.

Now, don’t get confused…Lauryn’s not after you getting skinny, she’s all about giving you the skinny on all things health, fitness, beauty, blogging, business, branding and more!

What Lauryn’s blog eventually turned in to would inspire any up-and-coming blogger, vlogger, influencer and more. Plain and simple, Lauryn is a boss of an empire that includes a blog, YouTube channel, book, fitness/body guide and oh yes, a podcast with her like-minded business husband, Michael Bosstick.

However, it is not the TSC world that makes Lauryn such a boss, but it’s her mission to make sure that her community is continuing to thrive in a world of collaboration over competition that gives her certified ‘boss’ status. “You have to think of the bigger picture. There’s enough room for everyone to thrive…2018 is all about women supporting women and I am so much about this,” she said.

You can hear the truthfulness in Lauryn’s words especially on the podcast she hosts with her husband, The Skinny Confidential HIM & HER Podcast, where they continue to showcase women doing amazing things and introducing them to the listeners. However, that’s not the only place Lauryn continues to practice what she preaches, within her company she is constantly working with family and close friends on all things TSC. “There is a level of trust when working with friends and family…[they] will push me to be the best version of myself and the brand. Plus, it’s SO FUN. We are always laughing and they can see me fresh out of the shower! HA!” she explains.

The brutal honesty that Lauryn requires of those that she works with is all part of the TSC brand, whether she is talking about boob jobs, how to get in the most efficient workout or even providing advice to her readers/listeners there is something so uniquely ‘Lauryn’ to it all.

“All you have is your voice in this industry. If you met me on the street, I’d be the same way as I am on the blog. It’s important to speak your truth and write about topics that speak to you. There will always be people who give their opinions but at the end of the day you just have to stay in your lane and the right people will support you.”

Staying in her lane is something that Lauryn heard from another serious boss: Bethenny Frankel. “It has stuck with me ever since! You have to beat to the tune of your own drum. Put your head down and focus. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing, ” she said.

While Lauryn may not worry about what other bloggers are doing, she really wants to know how YOU are doing. And this might be what makes Lauryn not only unique but successful. This past summer I won an Instagram contest and got the opportunity to FaceTime with her where we talked all things branding, business and our ‘meh’ feelings on the phrase ‘GirlBoss’. We both agreed, it’s too cliquey and of-the-moment. However, I’m not the only one who has had such a unique opportunity and experience with Lauryn, she is consistently engaging with her audience.

“TSC is where it is today because of the audience and the community,” she explained of her personal engagement with her readers. She has even begun to follow her community back on Instagram to get a closer, more personal insight into her audiences world. “It is my job to engage…I love talking to the community on a daily basis.”

You can find Lauryn engaging with her community on almost every social platform whether she is hosting an Instagram Live, or sharing her behind the scenes moments on her Snapchat, she can be found replying to comments, Snapchat messages and more. In between a hair tutorial on YouTube she is replying to emails (on the treadmill because if it’s not efficient, it is not TSC approved), providing branding advice to influencers and researching the next book she wants her audience to read. There is no stone left unturned when it is in the way of Lauryn Evarts Bosstick.

“In the next year we’re planning on [TSC] product that I’m VERY excited about,” she shared. “I see TSC growing into a larger global community [in the next five years] and unite women around the world.” However, have no fear…TSC readers will still be able to keep up with Lauryn’s adventures via her blog. “I love writing so the blog will always be the mothership.”
