Summer is upon us, and I can certainly attest to that after golfing in the Florida heat this morning. Like no joke sweat dripping everywhere, it was a cute look, a LOT cuter than my form which is in need of some major lovin’. But after an amazing Fourth of July holiday week with lots of family, fun, and wine, lord was there wine, I realized there are just so many great things to be excited for this summer of 19 you + me!
I wanted to share just the little simple things that I am so grateful for. I think it’s so important to call out the little things that make us happy.
- I love in the summer getting just enough of a tan where I don’t really need to wear a lot of CC cream. But I still always use a self-tanner face lotion from Jergens to make sure I’m extra glowy!
- Getting in my water is extra important during these hotter-than-the-sun months, and so I’m always carrying around a water bottle and throwing in all of the lemon, lime or mint that I can. Saying I’m drinking ‘Spa Water’ makes me feel super bougie and well also super hydrated.
- The sun sets just a little later in the summer allowing for an extra hour at happy hour with friends. My girlfriends and I found a cute Turkish place in town, Bosphorus, that has maybe the best feta plate/happy hour combo you will ever find. I legit had a GREAT glass of wine for $4 last time I was there. Currently, I’m torturing myself with a new low-carb lifestyle but if you get the hummus PLEASE DM me and tell me how good it is…this is important!
- Like I mentioned I got in a little bit of a golf game this morning. And I realized I totally love an early morning “on the links” as the pros would say and then starting my day. I felt so energized, after an ice-cold shower ha. K, but did I start my day after watching an hour of Ina Garten once I got home? Yes, yes I did.
- You know that I ALWAYS love anything that is full on female empowerment and I’m obsessing over the new Mulan trailer and the fact that Team USA just won their fourth straight World Cup. This female empowerment has me all wanting to do a “told you so” dance to anyone who ever said women can’t achieve anything and all of that BS. Seriously, women can do anything.
- Also, I’m headed to LA at the beginning of August (if these earthquakes would ever calm down…LA peeps are you all ok?) It’s been TWO years since I was in the PST and I cannot wait to see my favorite Cali ladies and of course, as always, go to a Mumford and Sons concert. I would say I have been to LA almost a dozen times, and only once or twice did I NOT see a Mumford show. I am who I am you guys…
Ok, also this IS a blog post about some jams and I need you to know I’ve been keeping a Spotify playlist called “Songs I’m feeling rn” and it’s growing by the minute. I’m not kidding when I say on my podcast one week I even said my obsession of the week was all of the new music I’ve found lately!
If I may quickly declare my love for Khalid and any song he does, or any song he sings on…I immediately do two things: 1.) send the Spotify link of the song to my music bestie, Ashleigh and 2.) add it to my “Songs I’m feeling rn”. Like I’m THAT girl. You will see him on this playlist…a lot. Settle in! ๐
The last little thing that I love is this playlist and sharing my favorite songs with you! Cruise down the highway to this playlist, have a dance party in your backyard in the afternoon rain (isn’t that the most fun if I’m being honest?) or sing along with these songs in the shower…I promise you will love every single song and cure any summertime sadness you may have (or had).

YES! Whitney did a cover in 1990 as a B-side track and it’s been remastered and it’s SO awesome! ๐
