Happy New Year, everyone! 2018 starts year two of this lil’ blog and I am having the MOST fun time! I have met some really amazing women over the last year through Insta-comments, Facebook groups and have a little community where I can reach out for advice and encouragement on my blog as well as in my personal life. When one of the girls had her little guy we all were right there wishing her congratulations and when another one finished her thesis we were sending confetti emojis and champagne wishes her way. It’s been so wonderful to bond with other strong women who have the same passions as I do.
I also got to reach out to some other ladies crushing it in the blog/podcast world for my She’s a Boss series and I introduced you guys to a friend of mine who through one viral tweet got the world asking that we #DoBetter for the young women in our lives.
Another thing I’ve had so much fun with has been creating and curating playlists for you. True story, when I get an idea/theme in my head for these playlists I make the list about a week in advance and listen to it endlessly to make sure that I’m absolutely in love with it before I share it with you. Sometimes, that’s why a blog post can take a few days for me to actually get up. Side note: your playlist below? I’ve had it for 2 weeks!
You know how at the end of the year the ‘lists’ begin? The top tweets of 2017, the best moments of the year, the top songs of the year, kind of like when DJ Earworm does his mashups of all the big songs from the past year. Fun fact, I saw DJ Earworm at a mashup dance club event Bootie LA, a few years back and it was SO. MUCH. FUN.
Anyway, I digress…Spotify, as you know, is my go-to for music. They do a really fun thing where every now and then they curate a new list for you thanks to their fancy algorithms. For example, a few months back they did a Time Capsule playlist and based on your music and info they know about you they figure out-ish when you were in High School and create a playlist that you PROBABLY had a mixed CD of. And it was pretty spot on.
SO when I saw I had a new playlist thanks to the Spotify Music Algorithm (trademark pending!) called: The Ones That Got Away I hit play. Instantly I loved each song and was SO mad at myself that I hadn’t discovered these songs earlier in 2017…well, that was the purpose of the playlist, huh? Once again, Spotify crushed it. I will say that there were about 3 songs on the list that I knew and every other song was a wonderful discovery of music. I found new bands that I’m literally obsessed with and stalking on Instagram, Twitter and counting down the days to their next shows in Orlando (cough cough The Band CAMINO).
So I took the list, tweaked it a bit and added some more jams that I’m obsessing over and the other night passed it by my roommate and got a huge “holy shit this is awesome” so I felt like Spotify, I too, crushed it for ya! With that being said, I hope you’re having an amazing start to 2018, that you are continuing all of YOUR passions, that you’ll keep My Revamped Life bookmarked and that you’ll listen to as much music as possible in 2018…and, of COURSE, leave me a note in the comments and please send me your music recommendations. I’m always on the hunt for new jams!

Adore this uplifting post – so much to look forward to this year! Can’t wait to hit Spotify later this afternoon to listen to every one of those songs. And I still remember the thrill I got when I submitted my PhD and our blogging pod showered me with champagne and confetti emojis!! I’m smiling even thinking about it. Keep up the awesomeness, Erika – I know you will! xoxo
