Hi there, how are ya? Are you heeding the warning of literally every scientist on Earth, and my recent post, staying inside, self-isolating and social distancing? It’s a really terrifying time outside of our front door so I’m not going to talk about the ‘C-word’ while you’re here!
I have been doing my extrovert-self best to stay active and occupied while on self-quarantine. I am calling my friends instead of texting them, going for a walk at least once a day and soaking up all of the Vitamin D that Florida has to offer and doing my best to put on pants. Yah, I know big time over here! Anyway, I am committing to getting up and maybe even doing jeans this week while I work from home.
One of my favorite things to do is to watch Food Network when I need an escape from reality. Why? Well, first of all, I love nothing more than seeing a 12-year-old tell me about ‘his’ recipe for a pie crust, that literally tickles me! But they also don’t talk about the news on Food Network so it’s a real win. I figured, why not take a note from all of this TV I’ve been watching and see if I can put my skills to the test in the kitchen. My quarantine kitchen ๐
I sorted through some of the things that I already had, Flour, Sugar, Strawberries and wondered what could I make with that? BOOM. Scones. I did a quick search on The Googs and found this delicious recipe from Natasha’s Kitchen. Just scroll around her site and your stomach will be growling within minutes!
I did a SUPER fast trip to the grocery store where I touched no one and respected the six feet rule and came home and got to baking. These were a little out of my comfort zone and I had a little stumble along the way and let the dough get a bit too warm before cutting it into triangles to bake. So, I did take advantage of an empty-ish freezer and let the dough reset.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun making these super yummy scones and if you would like to follow along in my kitchen journey while we are on a quarantine, please check out my Instagram and my IG stories labeled ‘Quarantine Kitch’ and while I don’t think I’m the next Giada Laurentis I’m thinking I may have a future here…hehe.
