Sooooo my therapist picked a hell of a time to retire. Things are NUTS you guys and I don’t know about you and how you’re handling the COVID-19 of it all but as an empath, I can tell you on my end, not well, bitch. Okay, it’s a trying time but that doesn’t mean I can’t quote Dorinda from RHONY!
So, for real it’s a bit scary out there and the fear-mongering Facebook posts are just getting to be a little too much. My one friend is enacting a ‘no TV’ clause in her household with her hubs and others I know are choosing only to get a bit of news throughout the day, you know so they can actually get through the day.
Today I had my “Ok, I need to focus on me moment” when I just felt like death all-day, emotionally, mentally and my energy was hella low. My dear friend spammed me with a million ways to slow down and take care of me and I want to share with you my game plan for the next few weeks to calm my anxiety. If it works for you, AWESOME, if not, let me know in the comments what you are doing to take care of you!
Music
Novel concept, right? I know, music is so therapeutic for me and I have found the most amazing background music to listen to while I’m working or milling about my room. It’s 8 hours long and god’s gift to YouTube. It is 8 hours of a rainy cafe, complete with non-descript taking in the background, light jazz and the ding of a coffee machine, or microwave, every now and then. The best part about this music is how much it calms me, lets me focus and takes me to a place where I can just ‘be’ whether at work or at home. I found this weeks ago and even play it on my TV in my room and tonight it was a lovely addition to my bath!
Baths
I don’t think I’ve taken a bath in years, sure the showering I’ve got down, but I totally forgot how luscious it can be to take a bath and shut out the world for a while. I even purchased Dr. Teal’s Pink Himalayan bubbles and soak for my big return to the bath. It totally did the trick, not only is my skin all silky and smooth but the scent of bergamot was just was my brain needed to calm down for an hour. Of course, I lit a candle for extra ambiance and because I’m extra, yes it was a Balsam Fir candle. Rumor has it that the smell of Balsam, Christmas, is known to raise your energy and vibrations and I think we can all agree the smell is dope and reminds us of happy times.
Meditation
I know I shared with you in my last post, a billion years ago, that I wanted to start working on me and my vibe and with that hit up some meditation. I started with Anna Wood‘s daily meditation, which you can get if you hit up her IG, it is some of the most amazing 18 minutes you’ll experience. You can take time to reflect on the negative thoughts and words you’ve been using throughout your day and challenge the Universe to help you flip the script and find new, positive ways to speak and in doing so, raise your vibration.
Journal
After the bath, music and meditation, preferably combined and at the same time, I like to journal down my thoughts. I want to reflect on how I’m feeling and if I’m feeling negative, I want to release myself of these negative thoughts and replace them with new words. I’ve found that releasing my feelings from being jumbled inside my head and putting them on paper gives me a profound release that I never know I needed…says the girl who puts her feelings/thoughts on a blog!
Breathe
So, let’s all take a second. Rollback your shoulders, relax your jaw and sit up straight and take your time…breathe in through your nose and fill up your lungs and expand your ribcage and push out all of that negative air/thoughts you’re feeling. Do that three times, I’m not a guru or anything but just remembering to sit and breathe can do us all wonders during this time.
Okay, you know where to find me if you wanna chat, DM me or shoot me a note I’m here for you because I know you’re here for me. Let’s kick this darn virus in the butt and stay sane while doing it. Love ya!!
