With June just starting and May behind us I’m working really hard to forget all the yuckiness of last week. If you haven’t read my absolute bummer of a story about why I didn’t go to Puerto Rico for Memorial Day Weekend, as planned, you can check it out here. I am just going to assume that Mercury was in Retrograde and being VERY extra about it.
However, with May behind me I’m working hard on being positive and putting out some good vibes that June is going to come through for me. So Mercury, put yourself in whatever is the opposite of Retrograde and let’s do this.
So, to keep my positive vibe all 30 days this month here’s just a few things coming up that I’m especially excited about!
National Bubbly Day: One of the best sounds in the world is a bottle of champagne being uncorked…pop! Today, June 3rd is starting this month off on the right foot. Our friends at Freixenet Cava have declared the first Saturday of June as the day that we enjoy the sunshine with a glass of bubbly, whether you like yours sweet, brut or my new favorite, brut rose, pour yourself a glass and cheers to the summer.
One of my favorite champagne cocktails is super easy and delicious to enjoy and no, it’s not a mimosa:
Girl Crack Champagne Cocktail
1/2 oz of Girl Crack aka Elderflower Liquor
5 oz of chilled Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut
Seriously, any cocktail that has St. Germain or Elderflower Liquor in it my girlfriends and I immediately gravitate towards; hence ‘girl crack’. So why not put my two favorites together in a gorgeous flute and cheers to the day!
Finding Neverland: With the viewing of this Broadway Across America show at the stunning Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, my season tickets come to a close. I am so excited to see this show and learn all about how Peter Pan came to be the boy who wouldn’t grow up. I have had a great time this past season and saw some gorgeous shows. I absolutely fell in love with An American in Paris and cannot wait to close out the season with what I think may be a top contender for favorite!
Arroyo Seco: At the end of June I’m headed back to LA to see a bunch of my besties and do what we do every time I visit LA: See Mumford & Sons. My friend Ashleigh and I have seen Mumford & Sons in some pretty awesome and iconic locations: The Hollywood Bowl, The Greek, St. Augustine, FL and more. Arroyo Seco is a two-day festival brought to you by the same dream team behind Coachella.
My favorite part of the Arroyo Seco Weekend, is not only is it in stunning Pasadena, California but the line up and experiences are bound to be pretty epic. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers close out night one and throughout the weekend are amazing performances from bands I cannot wait to see: Weezer, Live, Alabama Shakes (ek!), The Shins, Fitz & The Tantrums and oh yah…pop up jazz bands. If you know me, you know that Jazz is one of my favorite genres of music so this is a serious win-win for me. With night two ending with my favorite four lads from England, Mumford & Sons, I’m bound to be without a voice come Monday morning.
If you’re trying to figure out how to describe Arroyo Seco, let me help you out: It’s Adult Coachella with wine, jazz and pop-up libraries. Yes, you heard right, pop-up libraries. This festival couldn’t be tailored to me if there was a Kate Spade store on-site. Fyre Festival this is not, babes.
Gift Giving: OK so it’s not my birthday month but a couple of my favorite people are celebrating their birthdays this month, my Uncle Gregg and one of my Orlando bffs, Beth. Getting people gifts is definitely one of my favorite things ever. Last year I really nailed it with Beth and bought her, what I think is my best gift to date: A unicorn onesie. What mother of one doesn’t want one of these to hang out in around the house? Good news, she loved it. Now, to up my own ante!
What are you guys the most excited about this June? Leave a comment and let me know if there are any other fabulous days we should be celebrating other than Bubbly Day!
