If you’ve been stalking Instagram stories lately you’ll see a lot of people have been throwing up stories listing their favorites. We’re talking things like “wine v. tequila” or “yoga v. pilates” or even “favorite podcast” (Podcast Rewind, duh). So in this month of March, I wanted to share with you all more about myself. Why? Because it’s my birthday month!
Ever notice we really reflect during certain times of the year? New Years. Birthdays. Anniversaries, etc. So, with my birthday just a couple of weeks away I have been reflecting as well and thought that I would share with you some of my favorite things. You know, for ideas. For gifts. For me. For my birthday. Ha! OK, for my birthday I just really want you to share this little site with your friends and bring them over and let’s all become internet BFFs (But not like in that movie, “Ingrid Goes West”, that was terrifying).
We’ll consider this post to be my version of the Insta-story favorites and by doing so, I think you’ll get a little bit of a glimpse into me, my life and my every day.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Perfume: I have been a Clinique girl since I even learned what perfume was. So when they released a Spring scent about ten years ago or so I became hooked. Clinique Happy In Bloom? Welcome to being my signature scent. This light, airy and floral scent isn’t too overpowering, and it’s most certainly not a musk. Eh, that’s just not for me. I think this matches perfectly with my personality and aesthetic and it pains me that it’s only available once a year, so I definitely stock up!
Nail Polish: I was never really into nail polish as a kid because I was a habitual nail biter. I know! Gross! My dad was always on my case for it but I had an excuse! The piano was way too hard with long nails. Anyway, long story short I learned about gel nail polish a few years ago and immediately was able to start biting my nails. I’m a classic lady and generally have a pale pink on, but sometimes I go crazy for about two weeks during winter with a dark shade. Anyway, my main go-to color is definitely Bubble Bath by OPI. It’s subtle, sweet and ladylike, just like me! Ha, ok I’m not but whatever the color is great!
Music: I have a hard time with this category (that I made myself?) and have been an absolute lover of music since I was a child. Did I think about going into the business as a kid, maybe managing boy bands? Maybe I was 15 and a bit obsessed with Nysnc? We’ll never know! Anyway, I have favorites all across the board but when it comes down to it I would say that Mumford and Sons is my favorite, and has been for quite some time. I’m on six concerts and counting! They’re just that band that I can go back to at any time and they feel like home. And when they made an EP that was mixed with African artists? Well, my little Mumford heart just about exploded!
City: Little fact, I’m a born New Yorker. My mom is from Long Island and my Dad’s family is from the suburbs by way of the Bronx. I spent a solid 13 months as a certified New Yorker before we were on the move. We had moved a lot by the time I was eight years old: Cincinnati, St. Louis and ultimately Pittsburgh. Then while I was in college my family moved to Saint Augustine, FL which ultimately brought me to Orlando working at Walt Disney World. I have traveled to multiple different cities in America but have to say at the end of the day, there is something about that skyline, the hot, gross steam vents in the street and the hustle and bustle that makes my heart swell every time I’m in the Big Apple. ย No matter what I do, or where I go New York will always be home. Psst. LA You’re a close second!
Drink: You may call me basic or unoriginal but there is nothing I won’t do for a good bubbly. No, no champagne…Sparkling Water! I’ll take it in any form: club soda, La Croix, the generic Publix brand and even my new favorite Topo Chico. I’m not fancy, I’ll drink it plain. I’ll throw in some limes and call it a day and I even love making a mocktail of Kombucha and sparkling water. Hey, they say to drink 8 glasses of water a day…who said it can’t be fancy?
Movie: I think that we all have a top ten of movies in our head that we could watch at any given time. For me, it’s “Almost Famous”, “When Harry Met Sally”, “Oceans 11” (The Clooney one), “Meet Me in St. Louis” and a few more. However, my ultimate favorite movie would be “Defending Your Life” with THE Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks. This movie gives a hilarious insight into what may happen to us after we die. It’s funny, heartwarming and a really sweet love story. And honestly, if this movie is even 5% true I’ll be pretty happy!
